Basics of Search Engine Optimization.

The number 1 factor to be considered while creating a search engine web page or website is to make sure that the contents you add in the webpage are relevant to the keywords you are aiming to be get listed on top in search engines. If your content is good and the best available, then it becomes a duty of a good search engine to get it listed on top.

But to make the work of a Search Engine easy, we need to follow these basic steps.

1. Use Meta tags in all pages : Meta tags are a set of HTML tags used between <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags. Important among these tags are <TITLE> and </TITLE>, <META Name="Keywords" Content"A set of Keywords about the page"> and <META Name="Descreption" Content"a brief descreption about the page"> are very important. There are many other Meta tags but which are less significant.

2. Never change a page name: A search engine may loose track of a page from your website as you have changed the name of the page in between. This will make the page loose the waitage given by the search engine and may start as a new page for search engine.

3. Do not use frames: Only the content at the outer frame is read by the search engines and hence the content in the inner frames are left out by the search engine.

4. No drop down boxes for giving links to inner pages: Links using drop down boxes are not followed by most of the search engines.

5. Do not use flash: Content in flash are not read by search engines and the links given there are not followed by crawlers. Hence avoid using flash as much as possible.
